About STEM

About the STEM Program

Central High School became a Nationally Certified STEM campus in May of 2018. Started in 2013, the STEM program at Central High School is constantly growing. Thanks to community support of a 2017 bond measure, we were able to design and build our brand new 800 sq ft Makerspace completed August 2019. This space allows for 3D CAD Design, electronics repair, CNC router work, 3D printed components, and various laser engraving projects. To date, Central High School has had 25 instructors earn their National Certificate for STEM Teaching through the National Institute for STEM Education and several others continue to work towards this designation. This means that STEM does not only exist in the CHS Makerspace, but is present in every area of the CHS learning community.
